Pete Liebengood, Executive Director

Pete is the founder of Fresh Takes and serves as the non-profit’s executive director. Pete enjoyed a 30-year career in television news as sports director at KCRA-TV in Sacramento and KRON-TV in San Francisco. He also did play-by-play of a number of different sports for ESPN and NBC. After exiting the news business, Pete operated a television and video production company in San Jose. He was retired for nearly a decade before deciding to devote all his time (spelled playing really bad golf) to launching Fresh Takes

Sagesse Gwinn Graham, Director of Programming & Instruction

Sagesse has 15 years experience working in arts education with youth. Her background includes extensive inter-disciplinary studies at the renowned liberal arts college, Evergreen, in Olympia WA. There she formed a foundation of skills and knowledge spanning media production, theater and dance, community organizing, holistic education and youth empowerment.  She believes strongly in approaching education through a multi-faceted lens and that exploration in the arts is an essential part of child development. She incorporates concepts such as multiple intelligences, emotional intelligence and different learning styles into all her curriculum design. She has worked as a facilitator, contract, and resident teaching artist, coordinator and director for organizations with international acclaim such as The Power of Hope based in Victoria BC, the Riekes Center for Human Enhancement in Menlo Park, CA, and her current home Fresh Takes, in Redwood City CA

RaulRaul Gonzalez, Social Media & Marketing

Raul is a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz in the Digital Media & Production department. His passion for GLBTQ, HIV/AIDS, and Chicana/o awareness has intersected with his interest in nonfiction film having produced documentary works  concerning these passions. An avid believer of conveying the stories, struggles, and messages of his communities has led him to reach out to international groups in South America to better understand the context of other cultures. Raul hopes to gain some real world experience these next couple years in the film and non profit sector, before heading back to graduate school where he seeks to pursue a master’s degree in social work. ashleyAshley Diamond, Public Relations, Filmfest Coordinator

The current Junior at Menlo College, is pursuing a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing.  She grew up in Saratoga, CA where she thrived in the Media Arts Program at Saratoga High.  This experience strengthened her passion in media arts through creating numerous digitally enhanced photographs, animations, commercials  news casts, psa’s and short films.  She furthered her interest at Stanford University summer camp that taught Advanced FIlmmaking and Action Sports Filmmaking.  This background combined with writing articles, taking photographs and selling advertisements for two different magazines is what brought Ashley into this internship.  She hopes to further her marketing experience while extensively promoting the first annual Fresh Takes Filmfest. KunalDesaiKunal Desai, Social Media & Marketing

Kunal is a rising junior at Dougherty Valley High School who plans to combine his interest in the Digital Arts with his passion for business.  His participation in his schools digital photography class nurtured his fascination with the visual arts, and he hoped to continue it by joining Fresh Takes.  Kunal enjoys volunteering, playing golf, and taking pictures in his free time.  He loves interning at Fresh Takes because of the significance of its core values, the environment brought about by the staff, and the ambitious students that come through the door everyday to learn.  At the end of his internship, Kunal hope to have a resounding impact on this organization for years to come.  June – Present

NicoleNicole Falsetti, Filmfest Coordinator

Nicole attends Los Altos High School and Freestyle Academy as an incoming Senior. She is a passionate filmmaker that has written, directed, and produced four of her own films. Through her passion for youth empowerment in the arts, she actively blogs on the National Youth Film Fest process for youth to use as a resource. Nicole’s interest in visual arts first began when she was an intern for a professional photographer. She then became a film student at Freestyle Academy, where she still studies.  June – Present

Samantha Tongo, Public Relations & Social Media

Sam is a senior at Menlo College majoring in Marketing and is from The Philippines. Her passions for film, art and marketing attracted her to the Fresh Takes’ Social Media/Public Relations Internship. From a young age Sam showed avid interest in digital media and art by editing videos, taking photography trips and watching classical movies. As an amateur artist, she has always had a fascination with the way even the smallest details can enhance an artwork’s impact. She believes that even seemingly little aspects, such as timing, size, graphics and choice of words, can greatly influence a person’s response to a message. She loves working at Fresh Takes because of its open, positive and enriching environment.  She is excited to learn more about digital arts and media. Intern Feb – May

AustinAustin Valencia, Youth Mentor & Audio Engineer

Austin is a student in the digital media department.  He is currently working on his AA in Video & Audio production.  His interests include photography, videography, film, and music production.  He has worked with at-risk youth as a mentor and continues to have a positive impact within the community. Lauren Hopkins, Marketing & PublicationsOriginally from Monterey, California, Lauren came up to the Bay Area to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the graphic arts from Cal State East Bay. She is  now obtaining her degree in hopes to find her dream job as a designer and live in the city of San Francisco. Her interests in design and art comes from earlier years of youth and is passionate about illustration, filmmaking, drawing, photography, music, and more. Lauren is computer oriented in programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Indesign. By using these programs, she is able to create and manage various projects. She performs well with others in generating good ideas for design and media and is detail oriented. By working at Fresh Takes, she is able to use her experience and skills to help benefit the business in meetings its goals.  Intern Feb – May

BOARD

Jim Hartnett: Board President

Jim is a partner in the Redwood City law firm of Hartnett, Smith & Paetkau. He enjoys a distinguished reputation as a civil litigator. He is a former mayor of Redwood City and a 4-term city council member. Jim is the most recent addition to the board of directors of the California High-Speed Rail Authority.

 

Lilia Ledezma: Board Vice President

Lilia has an extensive background in finance. She is presently a public outreach consultant at Community Consultants Group. She is extremely active in the Redwood City community and serves on the board of directors of the Young Dreamer Network.

Jeff Ira: Treasurer

Jeff is a 2-term former mayor of Redwood City and current council member. He is a CPA and is a partner in the firm C.G. Uhlenberg.

Barbara Bonilla

Barbara is Director of Community Service for the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, where she oversees youth programs of the Sheriff’s Activities League. Barbara is a past coordinator for the Police Activities League in Redwood City and has served on the board of directors of National PAL. Barbara is the producer of our annual “Night of Stars” fundraiser.

Hector Flamenco

Hector came to us in late 2011. He is a State Farm agent/owner working with an office in Redwood City. Hector is heavily invested in community service and, like Lilia, is on the board of directors of the Young Dreamer Network.

Lori Lochtefeld

Lori joined Fresh Takes board in mid-2011. She is co-owner, along with her husband Eric, of the Fox Theatre in Redwood City which makes her our landlord. She also owns and operates Lacewell Realty in Redwood City.

Preston Monroe

Preston has been the Webmaster at San Mateo Credit Union for over 10 years. He also has experience with online and traditional marketing. Preston has volunteered with various youth and community organizations in the San Jose area is looking to make a difference in his home town of Redwood City.

Mark Simon

Mark is the executive officer for PUblic Affairs with SanTrans.  Prior to joining SamTrans he worked for the San Francisco Chronicle as a political reporter and columnist. Mark is presently a member of the board of directors of Pen TV26.

Carol Ebner

Carol is the secretary for Fresh Takes. She is the president of T & H Building Supply and is an active member of the Rotary Club in Redwood City.
